The NYLO LOCL Bar is an ode to the music clubs and speakeasies prevalent in Harlem during New York’s Jazz Era. With bistro chairs, wood tales, and a counter made of zinc, the bar is set up to be a bustling social era and sits adjacent to the Piano Lounge and Library that provide for more intimate settings. To create an authentic feel, the design incorporates historic details uncovered during the building’s renovation. The building’s industrial core comes forward in the public areas with concrete floors and exposed ceiling beams and brick. The industrial feeling is accentuated by metal wall and ceiling lamps throughout the lobby area, as well as details like a chicken wire and glass encasement for the bar’s liquor. A large steel garage door system allows for easy integration with the outdoor space in the summer.
