Located just steps from the Chelsea Flower District, The Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel’s design plays on the dichotomy of the hotel’s surroundings: creating the feeling of venturing into a secret garden tucked away in a decidedly industrial neighborhood. Situated at the site of the famed former Chelsea Antiques Garage, the interiors channel the site’s history with hidden treasures layered throughout the public spaces, 341 guestrooms, and eight suites. Beyond the lobby and signature restaurant, Cotto, a black metal-and-glass staircase ascends to the second-floor event areas, following a wall covered in more than 2,000 antique objects. Here, cuckoo clocks, keys, antique doorknobs, hardware, and unique ephemera including more than 50 bunny icons line the wall from the base of the lobby to the second-floor ceiling. The design standout is the rooftop bar and lounge, Somewhere Nowhere, backed by expansive views of New York City through massive eighteen-foot windows. Just above is pool lounge, one of the highest open-air rooftop pools in New York City, with abundant greenery, lounge seating, and a wooden pergola with a bar.
