New York, NY
Stonehill Taylor and GFI Capital rescued this dilapidated, historic 1902 building and converted it into a 247-key boutique hotel with a hip, alternative vibe. The interior public space, designed in collaboration with Roman and Williams, features event spaces, a gourmet coffee-roasting operation, and two destination restaurants. The storefront, public space, and façade renovation portions of the project are constructed to the strict standards of historic preservation required by its location in the Madison Square North Historic District. The successful application to the NYC Landmarks Commission resulted in a sizable Historic Preservation Tax Credit to the owners. This lucrative renovation has resulted in a broader revival of the neighborhood as a whole.
