InterContinental Barclay New York

New York, NY

Architecture, Interior Design

As part of a world-class team led by IHG Design Group, Stonehill Taylor contributed to both the architecture and interior design in a comprehensive renovation of the historic InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel in Manhattan. Stonehill Taylor re-shaped the nearly century old property to meet contemporary needs with the addition of two new large ballrooms and the consolidation of all meeting spaces to the second level of the hotel. A new grand stair was introduced, connecting the second floor and lobby and creating a bold architectural moment within the revitalized Federalist interiors. The Presidential Suite, expanded to 4,000 square feet, features historic accents and elegant furnishings. The grand entry hallway leads to a 12-foot-high rotunda, opening to the reception, fitness room, and master bedroom. The Sky Suite, a new 3,500 square foot addition, features dramatic 15 foot-high interiors and are a continuation of the classic style of the hotel. The new, event terrace features a trellised dining area with an outdoor TV and a fountain and offers unparalleled views of the Chrysler Building.
