JW Marriott Nashville
Nashville, TN
Interior Design
Inspired by the craftsmanship, industrial history, and architecture, Stonehill Taylor’s design for the new JW Marriott Nashville, a 33-story, 523-key glass tower by Architectonica, infuses the city’s local energy while focusing on timeless design in a sophisticated space. Stonehill Taylor focused on creating a refined and contemporary envelope yet folding in the warmth and comfort of Southern Hospitality. Taking cues from the city’s rich history of ironwork and its success in the leather goods industry, the design team focused on creating a luxurious space with blackened steel accents and rich cognac leather details. Additionally, the designer’s chose to highlight Nashville’s indigenous woods, oak and hickory, throughout the hotel. The goal is to create a relaxed and inviting environment embodying the above while layering in a sense of detailed elegance filled with light.
After entering through a wooden envelope imagined as a “firefly jar,” guests are welcomed to the lobby with custom Stonehill Taylor-designed marble flooring and oak bookshelves lining the walls evoke a residential feel. The focial point is the floor-to-ceiling fireplace made of Portoro black marble. Beyond the lobby, guests can enjoy drinks at the Kenya black marble topped bar or in the upscale living room complete with a cabinet displaying a collection of bottles of Tennessee whiskey. The hotel’s expansive event spaces and luxurious spa complete the public space program.
