New York Marriott Marquis

New York, NY

Architecture, Interior Design, Renovation

For the complete renovation of the Marriott Marquis public spaces, Stonehill Taylor did a complete overhaul of the 8th Floor Lobby and Reception, Atrium Greatroom, Broadway Greatroom, Lobby Bar, M Club, and over 110,000 SF of meeting and event spaces. The firm was challenged to create spaces that simultaneously feed off the energy of the hotel’s outdoor surroundings, while providing a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets below.
Drawing from the full 360 degrees of billboard light one experiences by being in Times Square, the firm used their generated theme of “Kaleidoscope of Energy” as the basis for their design concept. The reflections, flow of energy, and colors of Times Square are central to the hotel’s balance of elegant playfulness and interactive experiences. Using a sophisticated yet artful New York theme that carries throughout, flexible and varied seating, and strategically open yet distinctive zones, the hotel achieves this balance.
Of note, the architectural the team relocated the reception, expanded the 9th floor bridge for additional event space and added a new bar underneath, and created a new concierge lounge called the M Club.
