NYU Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Diseases Ambulatory Care Center
New York, NY
Architecture
NYU Langone Medical Center has created a new presence for the Hospital for Joint Diseases (HJD) with this 12,800 s.f. outpatient / extension clinical fit-out. The facility is strategically located on 23rd Street, and is part of the NYULMC master plan development of the main campus. This master plan will enhance inpatient services at NYU HJD with the incorporation of RUSK Hospital for Rehabilitation inpatient programs. The U-shaped floor plate provides shared space while providing two separately branded entrances to patients and visitors. The east entrance is branded for the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) programs with direct connection to the X-Ray suite, while the west entrance supports the combined services of the Diabetic Foot and Ankle Center (DFAC) and the Wound Care Center (WCC).
The plan positions waiting / reception and administrative programs along the facade. 21 exam rooms are interconnected by an east / west clinical corridor for access to shared patient services and central staff support facilities. The design offers NYU HJD the opportunity to present a new image with the first major outpatient / extension clinic facility as part of the RUSK relocation of inpatient programs to the Hospital for Joint Diseases.
