To permit the expansion of core services within the NYULMC Clinical Cancer Center (CCC) at 160 East 34th Street, an 8,050 s.f. street level retail space with a basement has been rented around the corner at 33rd Street. The 5,000 s.f. space is a partial first floor level fit-out within a 1960’s 20 story residential building, which will provide services for: Mammography, Ultrasound, and Bone Density Screenning with Physician Offices and reading programs (program relocated from 3rd Floor of 360 East 34th Street). A 3,050 s.f. partial basement fit-out for additional offices, reading rooms, staff lounge, IT room, and mechanical/electrical service rooms completes the renovation.
The project brings a new image and branding opportunity to the NYULMC Clinical Cancer Center for the screening of patients within a one-stop facility, with on-site reading and diagnostic support with direct street level access, and connection to CCC extended services. Client budget limitations were strategically addressed in an upgrade to waiting and reception area finishes and installation of decorative and durable finishes within the patient service and staff work areas. Commitment to replacing existing systems in their entirety and coordinating existing services with the cellar and first floor ceiling is resulting in some variety in ceiling heights and the use of different materials. The ultimate goal is to create and deliver a comfortable and durable screening center with high volume traffic and integrated EPIC technologies for efficient patient flow while providing a warm and welcoming design solution.
