Saint Kate Arts Hotel

Milwaukee, WI

Interior Design

The Saint Kate Hotel, with interiors designed by Stonehill Taylor, is one of the first in the United States showcasing fine and performing arts from not only regional but also national artists. Drawing its name from Saint Katherine of Alexandria, the patron of the arts, the hotel will embody art in its many forms through an immersive guest experience, including visual arts, music, theater, dance, and literature. As a community hub with a design scheme influenced by the artistic pulse of its neighbor, the design team has worked closely with those in Milwaukee’s creative scene and institutions. These include the Museum of Wisconsin Art, Milwaukee Ballet, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, and The Pabst Theatre Group, among a handful of local makers and smaller arts organizations.

The hotel program includes a reception lobby which features world-class modern art installations, standing exhibitions, and live performances, ground floor bar, three new public art galleries, expansive guestrooms, and five immersive artist suites (designed in collaboration with various local artists, each of which represent multiple mediums and styles). Additionally, Saint Kate is host to an extensive food & beverage experience, which includes the Aria Cafe & Bar, the hotel’s three meal restaurant, Giggly Champagne & Wine Bar, Milwaukee’s only champagne bar, and The Dark Room, a more intimate, speakeasy inspired dining space.
