AC Hotel Greenville

Greenville, SC

Constructed on the former headquarters of the Greenville News, the AC Hotel Greenville’s design draws from the site’s history, as well as the energy of the art and theater-district neighborhood, the surrounding nature, and the textile mills of the area. The overarching theme of the interiors references a European modern print-house in homage to the Greenville News. In the public spaces, a use of stone references the area’s mountainous backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains while a palette of ink blue, black, and white ties to the site’s former printing press. Alternatively, the bar takes on a more theatrical flair in reference to the neighboring Peace Center, a local performing arts venue located across the street from the hotel. Awash in warm hues, copper tones, and mixed metals, the bar’s standout is a decorative drape of metal mesh material that brings a sense of human scale to the space, which boasts 19-foot-tall ceilings.
