B Ocean Resort Ft. Lauderdale

Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Debuted in 1956 as the Yankee Clipper, this beachside hotel was organized to look like a cruise ship with famous guests, such as Marilyn Monroe, said to be frequent visitors of the property. Utilizing all-natural materials and a clean-lined approach, the new design captures the beauty of the resort’s mid-century nautical architectures and its beachside setting within the protected nesting zone of the Tortuga Sea Turtle.

Stonehill Taylor introduced a long glass arcade to create a spine that physically connects the four hotel buildings to the reconfigured entry and provides an immediate visual experience of the beachfront upon arrival. A triple height glass atrium has been cut into the lobby with a grand stair of thick oak treads floating over a modern basalt stone water feature. Renovated areas include the beachfront event spaces, fitness and spa, pool areas, the iconic landmark Wreck Bar, and the addition of the new Salty Siren beachside bar, Naked Crab restaurant, and a two-story penthouse suite.
